Juvenile charged with first-degree murder in Chicago Lawn

A 16-year-old male teenager is now facing charges of first-degree murder in relation to a tragic incident that took place in the Chicago Lawn area. The shooting incident resulted in the deaths of a 14-year-old boy named Juan A. Medina Jr. and a 65-year-old man named Mario Medina. The teenager was apprehended by the Chicago police on Friday in the 6700 block of South Artesian Avenue.

According to reports, the shooting occurred on Tuesday afternoon, just a few minutes before 4:30 p.m. The incident took place in the 3500 block of West 61st Place. The victims, Juan A. Medina Jr. and Mario Medina, were unfortunate targets of the assailant’s gunfire. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has officially classified both fatalities as homicides, attributing their deaths to multiple gunshot wounds.

Law enforcement officials have revealed that the victims were outside their residence when the attack took place. Two perpetrators, who were inside a gray vehicle, opened fire on the victims. After the shooting, the assailants quickly fled west on 61st Place. Sadly, Juan A. Medina Jr. lost his life at the scene, while Mario Medina was immediately rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Unfortunately, Mario Medina succumbed to his injuries later on.
