Accident – Death – Obituary News : Police in Northern Ireland have brought charges against two women in connection with the tragic death of 23-year-old nursing assistant Odhrán Kelly. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) announced that a 43-year-old and a 36-year-old woman have been charged with assisting an offender and are scheduled to appear before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court today. This development comes as two 31-year-old men who were arrested as part of the investigation remain in police custody.

Detectives investigating the murder have formally identified Mr. Kelly, whose lifeless body was discovered alongside a burning car in Maple Court during the early hours of Sunday. In a statement, the PSNI emphasized that they do not believe there is any connection between the killing and organized crime.

PSNI Detective Chief Inspector Tony Kelly expressed his condolences to Odhrán Kelly’s grieving family, acknowledging the tremendous loss they are facing. He also provided an update on the progress of the investigation, stating, “While our investigation is still in its early stages, I do not believe there is any involvement of organized crime. If you were in the Edward Street or Francis Street areas of Lurgan between 2 am and 5 am on Sunday and noticed any suspicious activity, please contact us on 101.”

Carla Lockhart, a Member of Parliament for the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), echoed the police’s appeal for information regarding the murder. Lockhart emphasized the shock and disbelief felt by the people of Lurgan and extended her thoughts to the grieving Kelly family. She commended the diligent efforts of the police and stressed the importance of bringing those responsible for this senseless act to justice. Lockhart also highlighted the significance of any available social media footage, urging individuals to make it accessible for scrutiny to aid the investigation.

In a show of solidarity and remembrance, hundreds of individuals gathered at a vigil held on Wednesday in Edward Street to honor the memory of Odhrán Kelly. Friends, family, and members of the community brought balloons, candles, and flowers to pay their respects. Notably, some family members wore T-shirts emblazoned with the words “Justice for Odhrán,” emphasizing the collective desire for accountability in this tragic case.
