Teenager Arrested in Memphis After Stealing Car: Police

A 19-year-old man was apprehended by Memphis police on Wednesday night for allegedly fleeing from law enforcement after stealing a vehicle. The suspect, identified as Denim Galloway, was driving a stolen 2017 black Infiniti Q60, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD). The car’s owner reported the theft occurred in the parking lot of her church.

MPD officers noticed three vehicles in the parking lot of Wooddale High School outside of school hours, with individuals seen putting on gloves. Suspecting foul play, the officers observed a man exiting the stolen Infiniti and removing the license plates. As the officers approached the scene, the individuals quickly fled in the stolen cars.

A pursuit ensued as the stolen vehicles headed south on Castleman. MPD officers successfully deployed stop sticks, causing the stolen Infiniti to come to a halt near the Tokyo Grill on Winchester Road after colliding with another vehicle.

Despite the crash, Galloway managed to evade police on foot, initiating a brief chase. However, officers swiftly apprehended him and took him into custody.

Galloway now faces multiple charges, including theft of property, evading arrest on foot, and evading arrest in a vehicle. Authorities have also discovered that Galloway had several active arrest warrants prior to this incident.

While Galloway is in custody, it remains unclear whether Memphis police are actively searching for any other individuals involved in the car theft and subsequent pursuit.
