Man Arrested on First-Degree Murder Charges After Fatal Stabbing Incident in Aurora

A horrifying incident of multiple stabbings that transpired in Aurora during the early hours of Saturday morning has resulted in the tragic death of one person, while leaving two others injured. As a consequence, law enforcement officials have arrested a 29-year-old man, Caleb Arnett, on charges of first-degree murder.

The Nebraska State Patrol released a statement indicating that at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, the Aurora Police Department received an alarming report regarding a stabbing incident at a residence located in the 100 block of Fairview Drive in Aurora.

Upon their arrival at the mentioned address, officers discovered an adult female in the driveway of a neighboring house, suffering from severe injuries. Simultaneously, they located an individual holding a knife within the residence that was mentioned in the distress call.

Cooperating with the officers’ instructions, the person with the knife was promptly taken into custody. Subsequently, a thorough search of the residence revealed two additional victims. All three victims were immediately transported to the hospital for medical attention.

Regrettably, one of the victims, identified as 48-year-old Ross Nickolaus, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The female victim, who sustained serious wounds, has since been transferred to Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha for further treatment. The third victim, a juvenile, received medical care for minor injuries and has been discharged. All three victims suffered from stab wounds.

The suspect, Caleb Arnett, aged 29, was also taken to the hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries that he had sustained prior to the arrival of the officers. Following his medical evaluation, Arnett was promptly taken into custody and is currently being held at the Hamilton County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree murder, as well as two counts of first-degree assault.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Aurora Police Department has requested the Nebraska State Patrol to spearhead the investigation into this tragic homicide.
