The young victim, Fidel Otieno Owino, a Grade Two pupil at Omiro Primary School, was struck by lightning while seeking shelter in his house during a heavy downpour on Friday evening. His eight-year-old brother, Emmanuel Owino, who was also present, survived the incident but sustained injuries.
