Nyadenda village in Rachuonyo East, Homa Bay County, is reeling in sorrow following a tragic incident that claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy. The young victim, Fidel Otieno Owino, a Grade Two pupil at Omiro Primary School, was struck by lightning while seeking shelter in his house during a heavy downpour on Friday evening. His eight-year-old brother, Emmanuel Owino, who was also present, survived the incident but sustained injuries.
The lightning strike occurred when the two brothers were alone in the house, as their mother was away at the time. The sudden and tragic event left the family devastated and the community in shock. Chief Tom Ondiro, who confirmed the incident, expressed his condolences to the grieving family.
Emmanuel, who experienced shock following the lightning strike, was immediately rushed to Rachuonyo South sub-county hospital for urgent medical attention. The medical staff at the hospital is providing him with the necessary care and treatment to aid in his recovery.
