Person of Interest Sought by Independence Police in Fatal Stabbing Case

Stabbing Incident

Authorities in Independence are currently on the lookout for an individual of interest in connection with a tragic stabbing incident that resulted in the death of a male victim on Saturday evening. The incident took place in the vicinity of Truman Road and Hardy Avenue.

Officer Jack Taylor, the spokesperson for the Independence Police Department, stated that at approximately 4:25 p.m., the male victim was transported to Independence Fire Station 3 for immediate medical attention following the stabbing. Despite their best efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries while receiving aid from the fire department personnel. The age of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.

Authorities have identified Anthony J. Durkin, aged 34, as a person of interest in the homicide investigation. Durkin, who is approximately 5 feet and 10 inches tall and weighs around 155 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes. Notably, he sports a tattoo on the right side of his neck that reads “RESPETO” and a Scooby Doo tattoo on his right arm. He is known to frequent the area of 23 Highway and Sterling Avenue.

In light of the ongoing investigation, the Independence Police Department urges the public not to approach Durkin if located, but to immediately contact emergency services by dialing 911.
