Sayyida Zainab bint Ali (as) was born in Medina, Saudi Arabia, in the year 5 AH (626 CE). She was the daughter of Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) and Lady Fatima Zahra (as), the granddaughter of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Throughout her life, she demonstrated unwavering dedication to the principles of justice, bravery, and piety.
Sayyida Zainab became renowned for her pivotal role in preserving the message of Karbala, where her brother Imam Husayn (as) and his companions were martyred in 61 AH (680 CE). Despite witnessing unimaginable tragedy and enduring captivity, she fearlessly spoke out against the oppressors, exposing their atrocities and ensuring the survival of Imam Husayn’s (as) legacy.
Her profound speeches and sermons, delivered during her forced journey from Karbala to the court of the tyrant Yazid in Damascus, resonated with the masses, inspiring countless individuals to question the tyrannical rule of the time.
