Major Boakye Djan was born on July 22, 1942, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He dedicated his life to serving his country, joining the Ghana Armed Forces and rising through the ranks to become a major. He played a significant role in the history of Ghana, particularly during the period of political instability in the 1980s.

As a member of the AFRC, Major Boakye Djan was involved in the military coup that overthrew the government of General Frederick Akuffo in 1979. The AFRC ruled Ghana until 1981 when it was overthrown by Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings. Despite the controversial nature of his involvement, Major Boakye Djan remained a respected figure in Ghana.

After his military career, Major Boakye Djan became involved in politics, standing as an independent candidate in the 2004 presidential elections. Although he was not successful, he continued to be engaged in public discourse, offering his insights and expertise on matters of national importance.
