Monday, August 21, 2023 – In a devastating turn of events, the American rapper, Young Capone, has passed away at the age of 35. This news comes just weeks after he was reported missing in Chicago. His publicist, Aleesha Carter, took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce the heartbreaking news.

Carter expressed her grief in the post, stating, “This is with a heavy, heavy heart that I’m even posting this. We made magic when we strategically put out projects, always.” She fondly remembered the late rapper, referring to him as Young Capone, Dopeboy Ra, and RaRa. She also acknowledged his significant influence in East Atlanta, emphasizing the weight of his loss.
The Instagram post included a clip from Young Capone’s music video with Mario, titled “Choosin,” along with artwork dedicated to the memory of the Atlanta-based rapper.
The cause of Young Capone’s death is still unknown. According to Vibe, he was reported missing in Chicago in July. Grand Hustle’s Tip, also known as T.I., released a statement expressing condolences to Young Capone’s family, friends, and fans. The statement highlighted the rapper’s remarkable presence and effortless talent.
Djuan Hart, a music manager, shared his grief on Instagram as well. He posted the music video for Young Capone’s song “Friends” and expressed his condolences to the late rapper’s family and loved ones.

Born as Rodriguez Smith, Young Capone rose to prominence during the mid-2000s in Atlanta’s underground hip-hop scene, as reported by XXL. He released several albums throughout his prolific career, including “Tha Life of a Youngsta” in 2010, followed by “Paper and Politics.” Eventually, he changed his name to Dopeboy Ra.
Young Capone joined forces with Grand Hustle and contributed to numerous tracks on their 2017 album, “We Want Smoke.” Notable collaborations in his career include working with rappers such as Daz Dillinger and Jermaine Dupri, whom he later joined on Dupri’s record label, So So Def. In 2006, while signed with So So Def, Young Capone released the track “Lights, Camera, Action,” according to People. His most recent album, “SlumMade 2.0,” was released last year, as reported by XXL.
