Seliman Bandang, the man who held the prestigious title of being the oldest living man in Malaysia, has sadly passed away today at the remarkable age of 113. The news of his demise was announced by Saratok Hospital, where he took his last breath at 5.20 am this morning.

Born on March 21, 1910, Seliman’s life journey captivated the nation, and his passing marks the end of an extraordinary era. His funeral wake will be held at Rh Mulok, Klua Krian, Saratok on August 21, where friends, family, and well-wishers will come together to pay their respects.

The final farewell ceremony will take place on August 22, as Seliman will be laid to rest at the Klua Christian Cemetery in Saratok. This peaceful resting place will serve as a testament to his incredible longevity and the indelible mark he left on Malaysian history.

Seliman’s remarkable journey came to the nation’s attention after his vaccination against Covid-19. Being the oldest person in Sarawak to receive the vaccine, his story caught the eye of the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR). Recognizing his exceptional age, the MBOR officially crowned him as the oldest living person in Malaysia, dethroning Annamah Abukutty, who held the title since March 31, 1911.

The passing of Seliman Bandang is not only a loss for his loved ones but for the entire nation. His long life and the stories he carried with him were a living testament to the rich history and vibrant culture of Malaysia. As the nation mourns his departure, his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
