A journalist was shot dead in Bihar’s Araria district, leading to criticism of the Nitish Kumar government for failing to protect journalists and police. Chirag Paswan, the leader of the NDA ally, stated that neither journalists nor police are safe in the state. The incident occurred when four unidentified men entered the journalist’s residence and shot him in the chest. The investigation is ongoing, and efforts to apprehend the culprits are underway. During a press conference, Chirag Paswan, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), stated, “They claim that democracy is being undermined, yet they themselves are incapable of protecting the foundations of democracy. In your state, Mr. Nitish Kumar, neither journalists nor the police are safe.”

Paswan expressed concerns about the government’s inability to protect journalists and police, suggesting that it raises questions about the safety of ordinary citizens in the state.
Earlier today, a local journalist named Vimal Kumar Yadav was fatally shot by unidentified criminals who entered his residence in Raniganj Bazar, Araria district, around 5:30 am.
“In the Raniganj Bazar area, journalist Vimal Kumar Yadav was killed by unidentified criminals… A post-mortem examination is being conducted, and the murder scene is being investigated with the assistance of a dog squad,” said Ashok Kumar Singh, the Superintendent of Police in Araria.
Singh confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and efforts to apprehend the culprits are underway.
Meanwhile, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar described the incident as unfortunate and stated, “It’s an unfortunate incident… I have instructed the authorities to thoroughly investigate it.”
