A photograph of the Marin County Jail is provided here. The deceased inmate, who passed away recently, has been identified as a 36-year-old man from Novato who was facing charges of child molestation. On August 10th, a deputy discovered Carlos Alejandro Chi-Chi hanging in his cell at around midday. He was promptly transported to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. In light of the fact that the Marin County Sheriff’s Office oversees both the jail and the coroner’s division, an independent investigation into the inmate’s death has been requested from the San Rafael Police Department. Chi-Chi shared his cell with another inmate.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, responsible for conducting the autopsy, revealed on Wednesday that the deceased inmate was indeed Chi-Chi. The exact cause of his death is still pending. On July 28th, Novato police arrested Chi-Chi at the Safeway located in the Hamilton neighborhood. The jail’s booking log identified his occupation as a produce manager, although it mistakenly listed an incorrect birth date that erroneously stated Chi-Chi’s age as 45.

The Marin County District Attorney’s Office has filed five felony counts against Chi-Chi, including the charge of raping a child. Investigators allege that these crimes took place over a span of approximately four years..
