In Harris County, Texas, a deputy was shot during a traffic stop and is now in recovery after undergoing surgery. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez revealed that the deputy, Joseph Anderson, is awake, alert, and even joking with his family. Despite this positive news, the search for the suspected shooter, Terran Green, is ongoing. Sheriff Gonzalez mentioned that as Anderson recovers, there is a friendly debate between him and his twin brother, who is also in the sheriff’s office, about who is the better looking one.

The incident occurred when Deputy Anderson was conducting a traffic stop in northeast Harris County and was fired upon by the suspects, who then fled the scene. Anderson was immediately taken to the hospital by LifeFlight while authorities launched a manhunt for the two individuals believed to be responsible.

Sheriff Gonzalez provided details about the quick response to the incident, with witnesses reporting the wounded officer and EMS arriving within minutes to provide life-saving measures. Anderson sustained at least two bullet wounds to his upper torso but is currently in critical, yet stable condition. He has been serving with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office for over a year.

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued a Blue Alert, which is an emergency notification system used to help apprehend suspects who have killed or seriously injured law enforcement officers, to aid in the search for the suspects. One of the suspects, James Green, was detained but later released after questioning.

To assist in the capture of Terran Green and any other individuals involved in the shooting, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a reward of up to $20,000. The FBI and Crime Stoppers have also offered rewards, bringing the total amount to $45,000.

As the search for the suspects continues, the community and law enforcement agencies are rallying together, and prayers are being requested for Deputy Anderson’s recovery. Both Governor Abbott and Sheriff Gonzalez have urged Texans to join them in supporting the injured deputy and his family during this difficult time..
