The body of a missing Florida man, Jody Bert, was discovered in the Mississippi River. The Coast Guard alerted the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office after a dredging company found the body. The Baton Rouge Police Department had previously informed the public about Bert’s disappearance on March 23. He was last seen in downtown Baton Rouge on March 22, where he had dropped off his wife and children at a hotel. Bert and his family had been staying in Baton Rouge overnight due to a medical issue he was facing. They were on their way back to Florida after visiting relatives in Oklahoma. However, Bert went to search for a parking spot for their vehicle and never returned to his family. The police later found the vehicle, his wallet, and his cell phone in the hotel’s parking garage the following day.
It is truly unfortunate that Jody Bert’s life has ended in such a manner, and the circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation.
