Toronto police have identified the victim of the city’s 40th homicide as Douglas James MacDonald. MacDonald was allegedly attacked by another man and then hit in a hit-and-run incident. The suspect chased MacDonald into the middle of the street where he fell and was subsequently struck by a northbound vehicle. The police are urging the driver of the vehicle to come forward. The victim of the city’s 40th homicide, which occurred late Tuesday night, has been identified as Douglas James MacDonald, a 54-year-old resident of Toronto.

According to reports, MacDonald was allegedly assaulted by another individual before being struck in a hit-and-run incident at the intersection of Sherbourne and Queen St. E. at approximately 10:50 p.m.

“The male victim was found in the middle of Sherbourne St., north of Queen St. E.,” stated Toronto Police Det.-Sgt. Brandon Price during a news conference held on Thursday afternoon at police headquarters.
“Upon assessment, he was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Price revealed that MacDonald was engaged in a physical altercation with another man on the west sidewalk of Sherbourne St. The altercation escalated, resulting in MacDonald being chased into the middle of Sherbourne St., where he fell to the ground and was continually attacked by the suspect.

“Following the attack, Mr. MacDonald appeared incapacitated as he lay motionless on the roadway,” Price explained. “Seconds later, a vehicle traveling northbound struck him.”

The vehicle involved in the incident was a white, four-door sedan. Price emphasized that the driver of the vehicle is considered a witness and urged them to come forward and contact the police.
The assailant, described as a Black male with an average build, was last seen wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, a green hoodie with a camouflage pattern on the hood, black jeans with small tears on the front of both legs, and black shoes. He fled the scene on a bicycle, heading northbound on Sherbourne St.
