The body of 18-year-old swimmer Ebrahim Akhoon, who went missing on Tuesday, was found in Wilmette Harbor on Thursday. The search began after Akhoon was pulled under the water while swimming in Lake Michigan at Elder Beach in Winnetka. Despite efforts by emergency personnel, including the U.S. Coast Guard, the high waves made it too dangerous to launch a boat. The body of a swimmer who was reported missing on Tuesday has been found in Wilmette Harbor on Thursday afternoon, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The swimmer has been identified as 18-year-old Ebrahim Akhoon. The Village of Winnetka expressed their condolences to Akhoon’s family and friends for their loss.

The search for Akhoon began on Tuesday morning when he and two others went swimming at Elder Beach in Winnetka. Authorities were alerted around 2:15 a.m. after Akhoon went under the water and did not resurface. Despite efforts by emergency personnel, including the U.S. Coast Guard, to launch a boat, the high waves made it too dangerous. The search continued on Wednesday.
