The untimely demise of 21-year-old Jasmine Kaur Gondara, an Indian international student, in a fatal collision in Brampton earlier this week has left her family members in deep mourning.

The incident took place at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Monday, August 14, when Peel Regional Police reported that a female pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in the vicinity of Major William Sharpe Dr. and Chinguacousy Rd. in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police have officially identified the victim as 21-year-old Jasmine Kaur Gondara, who hails from Punjab, India, and was residing in Canada as an international student, as confirmed by her relatives and media reports from India.

In order to gather funds for the funeral arrangements and repatriation of Gondara’s body to India, her family members in Australia initiated a GoFundMe campaign.

Initially, there were reports suggesting that the victim was either walking with or riding a motorcycle at the time of the accident, but the police have clarified that she was a pedestrian.

At present, no charges have been filed, and the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigators.
