A young girl from Massachusetts, aged 10, tragically lost her life after being shot by a neighbor who forcefully entered her family’s apartment earlier this week. The heartbreaking news of Aubrianna Lynn’s passing was shared by her mother on Facebook. The incident occurred in Springfield on Monday, and Aubrianna Lynn succumbed to her injuries on Thursday. Her mother, Stephanie Croteau, shared the devastating news, expressing the immense pain and sorrow she feels. The Hampden district attorney’s office confirmed the girl’s death, and Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno referred to her as an “angel.”

Mayor Sarno, deeply affected by the loss as a father of two daughters himself, issued a statement expressing his condolences and emphasizing the need to take action against such senseless acts of violence. The police were alerted to the gunfire at the multifamily home on Monday afternoon. Alongside Aubrianna Lynn, her grandmother, Kim Fairbanks, aged 52, also lost her life in the shooting. Aubrianna’s 12-year-old sister sustained a gunshot wound, while her 5-year-old brother was unharmed physically. Regrettably, the family’s pet dog was also killed.

All three children were initially taken to a local hospital in Springfield before Aubrianna Lynn was airlifted to a Boston hospital in critical condition. The suspected shooter, identified as 34-year-old Victor Nieves, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot at the scene. It is believed that Nieves forcibly entered his neighbor’s apartment and opened fire on its occupants before turning the gun on himself. The motive behind the tragic incident has not been disclosed, and investigations are ongoing..
