A 22-year-old man from Clear Lake was killed in a two-vehicle accident in St. Croix County. The victim, Junior O. Carranza-Guerra, was driving west on 200th Avenue when he failed to stop at a sign and collided with a semi truck. The driver of the truck was uninjured, and the incident is still being investigated. This marks the sixth traffic fatality in St. Croix County in 2023. The Ladysmith News reported

A 22-year-old male from Clear Lake tragically lost his life in a fatal collision that occurred late on the evening of August 16th, as reported by St. Croix County Sheriff Scott L. Knudson. The deceased individual has been identified as Junior O. Carranza-Guerra. According to the official statement, Carranza-Guerra was heading west on 200th Avenue, located in Forest, St. Croix County, when his vehicle disregarded a stop sign and collided with a northbound 2015 Peterbilt semi-truck driven by Kevin M. Petersen, aged 29 and hailing from Porter, Minnesota. Regrettably, Carranza-Guerra was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Fortunately, Petersen emerged from the incident unharmed. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, as confirmed by Sheriff Knudson. It is with great sorrow that St. Croix County mourns its sixth traffic fatality of 2023..
