In the span of two days, there was another tragic accident in Panchkula, resulting in the loss of a 41-year-old man’s life. The incident occurred in Barwala when the victim, who was standing on the roadside, was struck by a car driven by a doctor. This unfortunate event adds to the recent string of fatalities in the area.

The victim, identified as Prashant Shukla, was originally from Uttar Pradesh but had been residing in Pinjore for work purposes. He held the position of production head at a factory located in Barwala, according to the police. This information was shared by the authorities who investigated the incident.

The driver of the car responsible for the accident was identified as Dilip Singh, a private doctor from Sanjauli, Shimla. Despite the police impounding his vehicle, Singh has not yet been apprehended. Investigations are ongoing to bring him to justice.

Shukla’s wife, Usha Tiwari, filed a complaint with the police. She recounted receiving a distressing call from the factory owner, informing her about her husband’s accident near Alipur bus stop. Shukla had been waiting for transportation to return home when the incident occurred around 4.40 pm on Alipur road (NH-7). Without warning, a Tata Zest car with an HP registration number collided with him at a high speed. Shukla was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Sector 23, Panchkula, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The car driver has been charged under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code at the Chandimandir police station. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

This incident comes just a day after another pedestrian lost their life in Pinjore due to a hit-and-run. The victim, Sunil Das, was a 50-year-old resident of Madawala village in the district. He worked at a factory and also engaged in farming. While crossing the road, he was struck by an unidentified vehicle that fled the scene immediately after the collision.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for increased road safety measures in the region. The authorities must address these issues to prevent further loss of life and ensure the well-being of the community..
