A Lincoln resident was apprehended by troopers from the Nebraska State Patrol after leading them on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle in western Lancaster County on Tuesday afternoon. The Seward County Sheriff’s Office alerted the NSP about a stolen Chevrolet Suburban that was reportedly heading towards Lincoln. At approximately 4:20 p.m., a trooper made an attempt to stop the Chevrolet as it was traveling eastbound on Highway 6 near Emerald, Nebraska. However, the driver evaded capture by driving through a residential yard and fleeing into a cornfield in a southbound direction. After covering a distance of around half a mile, the driver lost control of the vehicle while crossing a driveway within the field and subsequently escaped on foot. A Nebraska State Patrol K9 was deployed to track the suspect from the abandoned vehicle, leading the officers deeper into the field where the suspect was eventually discovered hiding among numerous hay bales. The suspect, identified as David Ruhl, aged 42, was taken into custody and transported to Bryan Health West Campus for medical attention. The extent of his injuries remains unknown at present. Following his discharge from the hospital, Ruhl will be detained at the Lancaster County Jail on charges of evading arrest, obstructing a police officer, criminal damage, and theft exceeding $5,000. Additional charges are pending in Seward County. It is important to note that this investigation is still ongoing..
