Dwayne Griffith, a 41-year-old resident of Springfield, has been identified as the victim in a homicide incident that occurred on Saturday. Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation and discovered Griffith with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Baystate Medical Center but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries. SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) – The individual who tragically lost their life in the incident that occurred on Saturday at the junction of State and Dresden Streets in Springfield has been identified as 41-year-old Dwayne Griffith, a resident of Springfield.
Law enforcement authorities promptly responded to a ShotSpotter alarm just prior to 9:30 p.m., discovering Griffith with a gunshot wound.
He was expeditiously transported to Baystate Medical Center, where regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into this distressing incident remains ongoing under the jurisdiction of the Hampden District Attorney’s homicide unit.
