A 15-year-old boy from Longview, Washington tragically drowned while attempting to swing across the Cowlitz River in Lexington. Witnesses stated that three teens tried to swim across the river but were overwhelmed by the strong current. A bystander jumped in to help, managing to rescue one teen, but sadly, the 15-year-old boy did not resurface. Rescue divers quickly located and recovered his body. Eyewitnesses revealed that Xander, along with two other teenagers, ventured into the river with the intention of swimming across. However, they soon realized the formidable strength of the river’s current and decided to turn back towards the shore. Regrettably, two of the swimmers struggled to make their way back, prompting a concerned onlooker to jump into the water and offer assistance.
Despite the brave intervention, only one of the distressed teens could be brought to safety. Tragically, Xander disappeared beneath the surface, leaving everyone in a state of shock and despair. Within minutes, two rescue divers were deployed to search for the missing boy. Their efforts were sadly in vain, as they swiftly discovered and recovered Xander’s lifeless body.
