Odalis Urena accident and Fatality – Following a tragic incident involving a drunk driving accident that led to the loss of two lives in Laurel Hollow on Saturday, an individual from Syosset was formally charged the next day. The courtroom was filled with tears as Soritios Spanos was arraigned on Sunday, leaving the mourning families of the deceased victims present to witness the proceedings.

The accused, a 32-year-old resident of Syosset named Soritios Spanos, was driving an Acura MDX 2023 in an easterly direction on Northern Boulevard near Moored Hill Road when he crossed the yellow boundary and collided with a westbound Ferrari, as stated by the police. Tragically, the impact resulted in the immediate death of a 37-year-old female passenger in the Ferrari, while a male driver of the same age succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital by emergency medical personnel. The court documents identified the victims as Ismenia Urena and Odalis Urena. It is worth noting that Spanos did not flee the scene, as confirmed by the police.

During the court proceedings, evidence was presented indicating that Spanos willingly underwent a preliminary breath test at the accident site, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.226 percent, nearly three times the legal limit. Consequently, he was apprehended without resistance. In addition to charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving, Spanos faces allegations of aggravated vehicular murder, two counts of manslaughter, and two charges of assault.

Spanos’ defense attorney emphasized the presumption of innocence until proven guilty, stating, “This tragic incident resulted in the loss of two lives, and our client and their entire family express their remorse for the consequences. However, it is important to bear in mind that not every accident automatically implies criminal responsibility. We kindly request your patience as the facts of this case are thoroughly investigated,” expressed Defense Attorney Steven Epstein.
