A 58-year-old man named Ralph Butler has been arrested in Winder on a murder charge for fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Yolanda Hammond. The incident occurred during an argument over stolen items, during which another man tried to intervene and was injured by Butler. Hammond died at the scene, while the other man received treatment for a head injury. The incident occurred during a heated argument between the couple, which took place at their residence on Bush Chapel Drive. Butler accused Hammond of stealing some belongings from him, sparking the confrontation. In the midst of the dispute, another man attempted to intervene, resulting in a physical altercation between him and Butler. The man suffered injuries to his head as a result of Butler’s assault. Meanwhile, Butler persisted in arguing with Hammond and proceeded to repeatedly stab her. Tragically, Hammond succumbed to her injuries at the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement officers. The injured man was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he received medical attention for his non-life-threatening head injury. Immediately following the stabbing, Butler fled from the premises, but was successfully located and apprehended on Tanners Bridge Road in Bethlehem the following day. The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office took him into custody, and he currently awaits a bond hearing at the Barrow County Detention Center.
