“Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Couple and Son on National Highway

A tragic accident on National Highway 50A near Mallapura Bridge in Chitradurga resulted in the death of a couple and their son. Four others were injured in the collision between their car and a truck. The victims were on a family trip to Chikkamagaluru. Chitradurga: A tragic car accident on National Highway 50A near Mallapura Bridge, located on the outskirts of Chitradurga, claimed the lives of four individuals, including a married couple and their young son. The collision with a truck occurred on Sunday morning, resulting in the deaths of Bhimashankara (26), Sangana Basappa (36), Rekha (29), and Agasthya (8). Three others, including Basappa’s two other children, Anvitha (6) and Adarsha (4), as well as a 26-year-old individual who suffered serious injuries, are currently receiving medical treatment at Chitradurga district hospital.
According to SP K Parashuram, Basappa was driving the car on a trip from Vijayapura to Chikkamagaluru, while the truck was en route from Hospet to Bengaluru. Basappa and his relative Eranna’s family were on a family trip to Chikkamagaluru, with Eranna traveling in a separate vehicle.
The case has been registered by Chitradurga rural police.
