A devastating incident occurred early this morning at Myanzi Trading Centre in the Kassanda District along the Mubende-Mityana highway, resulting in the loss of four lives and leaving three others injured, according to the Territorial Police in Kassanda.

The unfortunate accident took place around 3 AM on August 13, 2023, involving a black Fuso Fighter motor vehicle with the registration number UAY 415C. The vehicle, loaded with matooke, was heading towards Kampala from Mubende when it experienced a brake failure. As a result, the vehicle overturned, causing the tragic deaths of four occupants and injuring three others.

Although the identities of the deceased remain unconfirmed, the injured individuals have been identified as Nambusi Grace, a 40-year-old resident of Kikajo, Namasuba in Wakiso District; Bright Patrick, a 34-year-old businessperson residing in Kibiri-Busabaala, Wakiso District; and Nadunga Lydia, a 42-year-old businesswoman from Kalerwe.

The injured parties have been promptly transported to Mityana Hospital for necessary medical treatment. The Territorial Police have thoroughly documented and examined the accident scene. The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Kassanda Health Center IV mortuary, where postmortem examinations are pending.

The vehicle involved in the accident has been towed to Myanzi Police Station awaiting an Inspection of Vehicles (IOV) assessment. This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of vehicle malfunctions and emphasizes the significance of regular vehicle maintenance and inspection.
