Timothy Craig Setzer, Jr. was fatally shot by a police officer in Hickory, North Carolina. The incident occurred after Setzer ran from the police and pulled out a gun. Timothy Craig Setzer, Jr. was fatally shot by a police officer in Hickory, North Carolina. The incident occurred after the police responded to a report of shots fired at a home on 5th Avenue SW. Upon arrival, the officers encountered Setzer, who attempted to flee. Despite repeated commands to stop, Setzer turned and drew a firearm from his waistband, prompting the officers to open fire. Setzer was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.

In light of the incident, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has launched an independent inquiry into the officer-involved shooting. As a precautionary measure, the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Additionally, the Hickory Police Department will conduct its own investigation into the shooting incident at the house.
