A fatal motorcycle accident occurred in Grant County on Friday, resulting in the death of a Muncie man. The incident unfolded when deputies from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a motorcyclist, identified as Garrett William Gaddis, for a traffic violation near State Road 9 and Goff Drive. However, Gaddis evaded the deputies and fled in a northbound direction on State Road 9. The pursuit continued as deputies persisted in chasing Gaddis, although it was eventually discontinued in the vicinity of State Road 9 and 40th Street in Marion. At this point, the emergency lights were turned off, and the deputies gradually slowed down to disengage. Nevertheless, officers from the Marion Police Department spotted Gaddis near the area of 30th Street and State Road 9, still travelling at a high speed. They proceeded to follow him, activating their emergency lights. Tragically, just north of 16th Street and State Road 9, Gaddis collided with a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Kenneth Bledson, who was attempting to enter the McClure Oil gas station parking lot. The collision resulted in both vehicles coming to a halt within the gas station’s premises. Regrettably, Gaddis was pronounced dead at the scene by the Grant County Coroner’s Office, while Bledson and his passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Marion Health Hospital for treatment. Gaddis’s family has been duly informed of the tragic outcome..
