HORRY, SC, (August 10, 2023) – In Horry County, a tragic two-vehicle crash occurred on Thursday morning resulting in the death of one person and injuring another.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck was heading south on Highway 701 at Paradise Estates Drive. At 10:47 a.m., the Chevrolet veered across the center line and collided head-on with a 1988 Dodge pickup truck traveling north on the same route, resulting in a devastating impact.

The driver of the Dodge, identified as 74-year-old Lanny Cartrette, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries in the crash. 

The driver of the Chevrolet was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
