A Topeka man has been arrested following an injury crash near Neosho Rapids. Lyon County deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Kansas Highway 130, where one driver attempted to flee on foot. The suspect, identified as Aramis Hernandez, was later found trying to enter a parked semi. Hernandez was taken to Newman Regional Health for minor injuries and then to the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of charges related to the crash and intoxication. Chuck Samples reported

A man from Topeka has been arrested by Lyon County deputies following a reported injury crash near Neosho Rapids on Friday. The crash occurred at the intersection of Kansas Highway 130 and Road 170, located just south of Interstate 35 and approximately two miles north of Neosho Rapids. At 7:15 am, a witness reported that the driver of a 2009 Scion involved in the crash attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was unable to do so. Lyon County Deputy Benjamin Folks arrived a few minutes later and discovered the suspect, later identified as Aramis Hernandez, attempting to enter a parked semi on an Interstate exit ramp nearby. Hernandez was transported to Newman Regional Health for minor injuries and subsequently taken to the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of charges related to the wreck and intoxication.

At 8:40 am, it was reported that an individual involved in the crash was transported to Newman Regional Health for observation and potential treatment. However, this person was not found at the crash site. The crash and investigation details are currently pending through Lyon County deputies.

At 7:30 am, an injury crash was reported by Emporia Fire and Lyon County deputies, occurring approximately three miles north of Neosho Rapids on Friday morning. The crash took place at the intersection of Roads 170 and X, or Kansas Highway 130, just south of the Interstate 35 junction. Further information regarding the incident is still awaited.
