Authorities in Henry County, Virginia are currently conducting an investigation into a homicide that took place in Axton on Friday. The incident was reported to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 5:09 p.m. when 24-year-old Antwain Royqwell-Garifield Hampton arrived at SOVAH Health of Danville with a gunshot wound. Tragically, Hampton succumbed to his injuries shortly after. As the investigation progressed, deputies from the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office visited the hospital and interviewed a friend of Hampton’s, who revealed that the shooting had occurred on Axton Road. Law enforcement proceeded to the residence in question, executing a search warrant, but found no one present.
