The incident occurred on Friday when police received a report of a single-car crash on Forest Road. Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered a Mazda 3 that had been involved in the collision.

According to the initial investigation, it was revealed that the Mazda had veered onto the sidewalk heading northbound before colliding with a telephone pole. The force of the impact caused the vehicle to come to a halt in the front yard of a nearby residence. The driver of the Mazda was swiftly transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, but sadly succumbed to his injuries later on.
The deceased individual has been identified as Faraz Kelib, an 80-year-old resident of Hamden. In light of this tragic incident, the New Haven Crash Reconstruction Team has been activated to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
