EDWARDSBURG — Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were summoned to the scene of an incident where a vehicle crashed into a residential property near the junction of Redfield Street and Ironwood in Milton Township on Friday morning.

The crash was reported at approximately 3:13 a.m., prompting the swift response of the deputies.

Upon their arrival, it was discovered that the driver had fled the scene. However, subsequent investigations revealed the identity of the driver to be a 23-year-old Niles resident.

The male suspect was apprehended and detained on multiple charges at the Cass County Jail. In compliance with legal procedures, his name is currently being withheld until his arraignment.

Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the occurrence of this crash. The incident remains under active investigation.

Assisting at the scene were personnel from the Howard Township Fire Department, SMCAS Ambulance, and Cass County K9 Neera.
