The man, Giovanni McNab, opened fire on U.S. Marshals who were serving the warrant, injuring one deputy. McNab barricaded himself inside the house with the children, leading to a standoff that ended with McNab’s death and the children being placed in protective custody. In Christian County, Missouri, a man has been killed, his wife has been arrested, and a deputy has been injured after the couple fled to Michigan with their two children to avoid an abduction and parental kidnapping warrant. The woman was taken into custody in Goetzville, Michigan, where they were staying with the children. The man, identified as Giovanni McNab, was at a residence in Goetzville when the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group attempted to serve a warrant for the abduction of the children. McNab fired shots and wounded one of the deputies, who is now in stable condition at a local hospital. This led to a standoff between McNab and the U.S. Marshals, with McNab barricading himself inside the house with the children and refusing to surrender. Later that night, the Marshals entered the house to find McNab dead and the children unharmed. The children have been placed in protective custody. The U.S. Marshals received assistance from the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, and the FBI’s Detroit Field Office in carrying out the operation..
