A woman has surrendered to the North Charleston Police Department in connection with a fatal shooting at a restaurant on Dorchester Road in July. Kaisha Simmons Birch, 39, has been charged with manslaughter and possessing a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The incident occurred at the Bloom Room, where a 30-year-old woman named Maya Jennifer Simmons was found shot and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The incident occurred at around 2:15 a.m. on Friday at the Bloom Room, where authorities discovered a woman who had been shot and was lying on the ground. Upon arrival, emergency services found individuals attempting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the victim, but she was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The deceased has been identified as Maya Jennifer Simmons, aged 30. Birch voluntarily turned herself in to the police on Friday and has since been detained at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
