The catastrophic event took place around 8:50 p.m. on Wednesday along the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Chambersburg in south-central Pennsylvania. The RV, towing a trailer and traveling in a southward direction, crossed over a grassy median after one of its tires blew out, leading to the collision with the truck, which was hauling two trailers.
All four individuals inside the RV, identified as Donald Molander, Kimberly Molander, Miranda Molander, and Dane Molander, from Middletown, Pennsylvania, along with the truck driver, James Shade from Martinsburg, West Virginia, were pronounced dead at the accident scene. No additional injuries were reported in connection with this tragic incident.
The affected stretch of road remained closed for nearly ten hours to facilitate the investigation, resulting in continued delays on Thursday morning.
