Taylor Swift has announced that her next rerecorded album, “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” will be released on October 27. This follows the release of her previous rerecorded albums, “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” “Red (Taylor’s Version),” and “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).” The rerecorded version of “1989” will feature 21 songs, including 5 previously unreleased tracks from The Vault. Taylor Swift has announced her next rerecorded album, “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” which is set to be released on October 27th. The announcement was made during one of her Eras Tour shows in California. This album follows the release of her previous rerecorded albums, “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” “Red (Taylor’s Version),” and “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).”
The original version of “1989,” released in 2014, included 13 songs on the standard edition and 16 songs on the deluxe edition. It featured popular singles like “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “Style,” and “Wildest Dreams.” However, the rerecorded version will include 21 songs, including 5 previously unreleased tracks from The Vault.
Swift took to social media to share the news and the album cover, expressing her excitement for the release. She described this rerecorded album as her favorite one so far, mainly because of the incredible unreleased tracks from The Vault. Fans had speculated that “1989” would be the next album to be revisited, as Swift had dropped several hints and Easter eggs over time.
“1989” was a significant milestone in Swift’s career as it marked her transition into the pop genre. The album received 10 Grammy nominations and won Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video for “Bad Blood.” Swift became the first woman to win the Grammy for Album of the Year twice for her solo recordings. In 2021, she won Album of the Year for “folklore,” making her the only female solo artist to have won that top prize three times.
According to Billboard, “1989” topped the Billboard 200 chart and remained in the Top 10 for a whole year, making it the fifth album to achieve such a feat. Swift’s previous rerecorded albums, “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and “Red (Taylor’s Version),” also saw great success, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Swift’s decision to rerecord her songbook came after Scooter Braun acquired Big Machine Records and her catalog of master recordings. The singer aims to regain ownership of her masters through these rerecorded versions. With “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” coming soon, only her self-titled debut album and “Reputation” are yet to be released.
On her Eras Tour, Swift recently concluded the US leg with a six-night run at SoFi Stadium. However, she announced that she would be adding more North American dates in November 2024. She is also planning to tour South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe in the coming years..
