The investigation revealed that there was a physical altercation earlier that evening at a nearby bar, during which a friend of the victim was punched by a man identified as Jason DiPietro. Following the altercation, the victim expressed his intention to confront Jason DiPietro for assaulting his friend.

Neither DiPietro nor anyone else in the car offered first aid to the victim or called 911 for assistance.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 1,101 homicide deaths in Pennsylvania in 2021. An autopsy performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Sides died from a single stab wound to the chest, ruling his death as a homicide.
Renee DiPietro surrendered herself to face charges of third-degree murder, manslaughter, and possession of a crime instrumentality. Her bail was set at $50,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 22 at 1 p.m.
