A 38-year-old man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting on the west side of Indianapolis in February. Troy Briscoe has been charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. The victim, Sabrina Gail Cowan, was found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the hospital. Briscoe was identified as a suspect during the investigation and was arrested on August 8th. The individual was discovered in the 3500 block of West 12th Street on Monday, February 13th. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detectives have apprehended a 38-year-old man on Tuesday for his suspected involvement in a fatal shooting on the west side of Indianapolis back in February. Court records available online indicate that Troy Briscoe has formally been charged with murder and the unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. At approximately 10 p.m. on Monday, February 13th, law enforcement officers promptly responded to a report of an injured person in the vicinity of North Berwick Avenue, specifically within the 3500 block of West 12th Street. Tragically, they discovered a female victim, later identified as 30-year-old Sabrina Gail Cowan, with a gunshot wound. She was tragically pronounced deceased shortly thereafter at Eskenazi Hospital. Throughout their investigation, detectives were able to identify Briscoe as a suspect, and his subsequent arrest was made possible thanks to the cooperation of witnesses, as stated by IMPD in an official statement. On August 7th, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office issued a warrant for Briscoe’s arrest in relation to this case. At the time, Briscoe was already in custody at the Marion County Criminal Justice Center for unrelated charges, according to IMPD. He was apprehended on the warrant on August 8th.
