The police in Lafayette, Indiana, are currently investigating the deaths of a woman and her 5-year-old daughter as a potential murder-suicide. On July 27, authorities were called to a residence on Kincaid Drive where they discovered the woman and child unresponsive. The deceased individuals were identified as Tracy Bondurant, 43, and her daughter, Rayleigh Bloyd. The autopsy results revealed that Bondurant’s cause of death was ruled as suicide, while her daughter’s death was classified as a homicide. Both suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head. The autopsies were conducted on July 29.

Prior to her death, Bondurant faced felony charges of fraud and theft in Tippecanoe County Superior Court 2. She was accused of embezzling over $50,000 from her sister’s bank account between August 2022 and March 2023. Bondurant’s sister and husband provided evidence of the unauthorized withdrawals made by Bondurant, who had access to the account as the couple’s insurance agent. Bondurant confessed to stealing the money, admitting that she used it to pay her fiance’s bills without his knowledge. However, she expressed remorse for her actions and cited previous issues in her relationship with her sister.

The investigation into the deaths is still ongoing, and the Lafayette Police Department is actively looking into the case..
