Upon arrival, officers discovered two decomposing bodies with severe head injuries, identified as Crystal Dawn Holder and Richard Otto Biering III. Novak, who was also present at the scene, was arrested as a suspect in the murders. According to the Bandera Bulletin, Novak was found with blood on his hands, leading to his detention and subsequent charges of two counts of murder.
