Authorities responded to reports of a foul odor emanating from Novak’s residence on Wharton’s Dock Road at around 6:30 p.m. on that day. Upon arrival, officers discovered two decomposing bodies with severe head injuries, identified as Crystal Dawn Holder and Richard Otto Biering III. Novak, who was also present at the scene, was arrested as a suspect in the murders. According to the Bandera Bulletin, Novak was found with blood on his hands, leading to his detention and subsequent charges of two counts of murder.

Additional information regarding Novak’s criminal history reveals that he has a lengthy record dating back to his juvenile years. Earlier this year, Novak faced charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for shooting his father, although his father survived. Novak’s grandmother, Judi Andreolli, disclosed that he had struggled with depression and emotional difficulties.
