The remains of the suspect, identified as Avery Miller, 27, were found in Fort Chaplin Park in the 4300 block of C Street SE on April 4. The victim, Aryeh Wolf, was shot while installing solar panels at a residence in Southeast D.C. on a Wednesday in the summer of 2022. Authorities responded to the scene on August 10, 2022, and discovered Wolf with a gunshot wound. Despite being taken to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. A surveillance camera captured footage of a man believed to be the suspect, Avery Miller, walking through an alley or driveway with a bag and a gun. In September 2022, a 911 caller reported sighting Miller in the 5300 block of Ames Street NE. Officers arrived at the scene and encountered a suspect matching the caller’s description. Miller allegedly fired shots at the officers and fled into a residential building. No officers were harmed during the incident. A manhunt ensued, resulting in the disruption of school activities at nearby campuses. The suspect was wanted on a first-degree murder warrant, with a reward of $55,000 offered for information leading to his arrest.
