According to a legal document obtained by CNN, the child’s father was engaged in a conversation with friends inside a vehicle parked in front of their home while his daughter enjoyed her scooter ride. Suddenly, a gunshot rang out in the area, prompting the concerned father to instruct his daughter to return to their apartment for safety.
As the child approached the front door of their building, the shooter, identified as Michael Goodman, emerged from his own apartment across the street, brandishing a firearm. The father and other witnesses immediately noticed Goodman’s actions and shouted at him in disbelief.
In a desperate attempt to protect his daughter, the father rushed towards her, only to witness Goodman raising the weapon and firing at the innocent child. In a courageous act, the father tackled the shooter, causing both of them to fall to the ground. During the struggle, the gun accidentally discharged, striking Goodman in the eye. Tragically, the child succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Goodman was subsequently arrested and also required medical attention.
