Virginia State Police have identified the person killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County. The driver, Ivan Franco, has been charged with reckless driving. The passenger, Xmeina Flores-Choquemaqui, died at the scene. The crash occurred on I-85 South near the Old Sage Road exit and is currently under investigation. Katelyn Harlow reported

Virginia State Police have identified the individual who tragically lost their life in a solitary vehicle collision on Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County on Monday morning. The driver of the vehicle has also been arrested in connection with the incident.

According to authorities, Ivan Franco, a 26-year-old resident of Pearland, Texas, was operating a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu when he veered off the road to the right and collided with the guard railing. Franco sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash, although they are not considered life-threatening. It is worth noting that Franco was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Unfortunately, the passenger seated in the front, identified as Xmeina Flores-Choquemaqui from Peru, succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Flores-Choquemaqui had also been wearing a seatbelt.

The Virginia Department of Transportation initially reported the incident at approximately 7 a.m., specifying that it occurred on the southbound lanes of I-85 near the Old Sage Road exit.
