A 43-year-old man from Chicago has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of a 9-year-old girl. Witnesses reported that the shooter was upset over noise coming from the neighborhood. The incident occurred in the Portage Park area at around 9:40 p.m. on Saturday. The young girl, Serabi Medina, was shot in the head and taken to a local hospital in critical condition, but sadly she did not survive. The suspect, Michael Goodman, was apprehended shortly after the shooting and has been charged with first-degree murder. Community members expressed disbelief at the senseless act of violence, with one neighbor stating that everyone had told the shooter that the children were simply playing and having fun. Prior to the shooting, Goodman had complained about the noise. During the incident, Goodman sustained a gunshot wound after a struggle with the girl’s father, who managed to tackle him.
