Andrea Scott, a 29-year-old from Ohio, has crafted bracelets representing the matches she plans to watch, such as the US versus Portugal game. Additionally, she has made accessories featuring the names of players participating in the tournament. After sharing her creations on social media, Ms. Scott has received messages from people who plan to make and trade their own bracelets at matches in Australia and New Zealand. Ms. Scott hopes that distributing the bracelets will provide an opportunity to engage with fellow fans, as she is traveling alone. She also aims to spark interest in women’s soccer, particularly among younger girls and their families. Inspired by videos of Taylor Swift fans exchanging handmade bracelets at concerts, Ms. Scott views this project as a way to share her excitement for the World Cup. She will be attending five matches and is pleased to witness the increasing popularity of women’s football, but believes that more progress can still be made.
