TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A tragic incident unfolded at a Disney Resort in Orlando on Wednesday, resulting in the loss of a man’s life.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, authorities were alerted around 5:30 a.m. about an individual found unresponsive at Disney’s Contemporary Resort near Magic Kingdom.
The deceased has been identified as Jeffrey Vanden Boom, a 39-year-old resident of Greendale, Wisconsin. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation conducted by the Orange County Medical Examiner revealed that Vanden Boom had fallen from a balcony in one of the hotel rooms. The tragic incident has been deemed an accident.
Walt Disney World has not yet issued a response to Nexstar’s request for comment.
The investigation into this unfortunate event is still ongoing.
In a previous incident last year, an 83-year-old man passed away after experiencing a “cardiac event” while riding the Tomorrowland Authority PeopleMover at Disney World. Medical officials determined his death to be of natural causes.
Additionally, earlier this year, a wrongful death lawsuit was filed against Disneyland, alleging that park employees had shown disrespect towards a 66-year-old disabled woman who fell while disembarking the Jungle Cruise ride in 2021. Regrettably, the woman later succumbed to her injuries.
