Nasip Nasir X, national chairman of the Lion of Judah Armed Forces and leader of the New Black Panther Nation Minnesota, made a plea for the owner of the firearm to come forward and take responsibility for their negligence. Nasir X stressed that the firearm did not belong to Markee and urged anyone with information to step forward and help the family find justice and peace.

Marilyn Hill, the boy’s great aunt, described the house where the incident occurred as a “safe house” and emphasized that firearms were not typically present. She expressed her niece’s desire for justice and accountability. Caniya Fryer, a family friend, described Markee as a sweet and loving boy, still a child, and lamented the tragic and painful situation that no family should have to endure. The incident took place at around 5 a.m., prompting a call to the police about a juvenile male who had been shot. The 12-year-old boy was rushed to Regions Hospital by St. Paul fire medics but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
