Danny Maurice Brown Jr., a resident of Little Rock, is set to face trial in January for the alleged murder of his wife. The trial date was determined by Pulaski County Circuit Judge Karen Whatley during a recent court appearance. Brown, who is 38 years old, was apprehended approximately six weeks after the lifeless body of his wife, Edwina Martin, was discovered with gunshot wounds in their residence on Fairlee Drive. The authorities swiftly identified Brown as the primary suspect in the case. Consequently, he has been charged with capital murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Senior deputy prosecutor Jeanna Sherrill has expressed her intention to pursue a life sentence for Brown, who shares two children with Martin.

Currently, Brown is being held without bail, with attorney Stephen Smith representing him. Moreover, Sherrill successfully obtained a court order from Judge Whatley, prohibiting Brown or anyone acting on his behalf from contacting the couple’s children. This measure was implemented at the request of the children themselves.

It is worth noting that Martin had previously been involved in a violent incident in January 2012. During that time, she was shot in the chest and hip by assailants who ambushed her and her boyfriend, Daniel Hill, as they entered her mother’s apartment. Tragically, Hill lost his life while attempting to protect Martin from the attack. The perpetrators were apprehended by the end of the month. Martin and Brown had been in a long-term relationship, but she had decided to end it approximately three months prior to the incident.

Law enforcement authorities have asserted that Brown orchestrated the ambush due to ongoing disputes with Martin regarding their children. Brown was initially charged alongside the other two attackers. However, the prosecution ultimately dropped the charges against him after Martin married him in August 2012 and ceased cooperating with the investigation.

During police questioning, Martin adamantly denied any involvement in the violent assault and claimed to be unfamiliar with Quenton Vernard “Boo” Jones, aged 41, and Ivor Shawn “Slick” Gordon, aged 40, the men responsible for the attack. Jones, who was identified as the individual responsible for Hill’s murder, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder, resulting in a 55-year prison sentence. Meanwhile, Gordon, who admitted to knowing Martin, was convicted of capital murder in February 2013 and received a life sentence..
